Christopher Columbus arrived in what is now Venezuela in 1498, during his third voyage to the New World. European explorers named the region Venezuela (“Little Venice”) after observing local Indian houses on stilts over water. The Venezia Bakery was developed to resemble the bakeries found in the owner’s native Venezuela, so the European and Latino influence in the food is from this perfect blending of food cultures over time.
“Warm, fresh and unique.............everyday!” is their slogan. On the menu you will find European style pastries, desserts, cakes, Italian espresso, but you will also find Venezuelan style ham and cheese rolls, breads, empanadas, cachapas, arepas, sandwiches and more! The food was excellent and I had a little of everything. It is a pet friendly restaurant and offers free wireless internet. It's a great place to bring the kids as well and there is a nice park only steps from the bakery.
They also have a Holiday Menu featuring ham bread, hallacas, pork leg, smoked ham, turkey, chicken salad, holiday cake and pannettone, so you can make that holiday meal a little easier at home. It sounds like a good idea and I think I may have to make a stop and tell the family I cooked it! Their website is listed as veneziabakery.com, but seems to be a work in progress, so here is some other information.
