It looks like we have a show down here in Orlando between two one of a kind roller coaster’s. You may have seen the post I did about Sea World’s new Manta roller coaster, but did you also know about this new roller coaster now being test run at Universal Orlando Resort?Originally uploaded to Flickr by wobbly85
The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster is being promoted as one of the most technologically advanced and unique roller coasters ever created. According to the official website it is set to open late spring/early summer 2009. FYI, if you go to the site and play the Double Take you have to beat my :39 seconds.
A brief description from the site;
The coaster combines hit music; breathtaking first-ever maneuvers and highly sophisticated audio and video for a one-of-a-kind ride experience. Riders will pick their own soundtrack and listen as it blasts through individual concert-quality audio systems - all while hurtling through a series of never-before-attempted maneuvers and at speeds up to 65 m.p.h. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit's audio system will carry songs representing five genres of music: rap/hip hop, country, classic rock/metal, pop/disco and club/electronica. Each rider's song pick will also be featured on a ride video they can purchase that uses a network of sophisticated cameras to mix music, moves and special effects.
How about a custom music video of you screaming your head off? Yeah, sounds interesting and will probably be embarassing! I can’t wait for someone to offer to get me in the park and check it out, that is, once it is open. Hint, Hint! Until then, check out this video I pulled from YouTube with the first public test run.
Do you have a first hand experience or information? We would love to hear about it, drop a comment.

We were in the parks last weekend, and saw the tracks. They didn't have the cars running, but there was a drop straight down that looks intense. Let me know when you want to go, and I'll check it out with you.
I'll probably try to check out the Manta coming up soon also. When I was there Sunday, they were running the cars and guests.
Just saw the construction today. Has huge rise and drop. Looks wild.
