Let's get aerial!
When I hear zip line I usually think of soaring through the rainforest tethered to a string, but after a little digging and reader recommendations, I have found two areas in our own backyard that offer this and more. I have done many aerial and adventurous things around Central FL over the years, like bungee jumping, sky diving, parasailing, roller coasers, but never a 1000 ft zip line, rope bridges and 40 ft giant swing!
Grande Lakes Adventure Course:
A multi-level structure consisting of poles, cables, and platforms with 25 unique traversing and climbing elements. The Grande Lakes Adventure Course is designed to allow every guest to choose their personal level of challenge. Guests will be able to climb up 15 to 55 feet in the air and navigate through an adventure course designed for adults and children above the age of ten. 600 foot Zip lines and a 40 foot Giant Swing are two of the exciting elements that await the adventurous spirit!I did call and confirm that this area is open to the public and got the price that is not listed on the site. It is only open on Saturdays and Sundays right now and is priced at $45 for ages 10-16 and $65 for ages 17 and up. It looks like a fun course from what I can see of it from John Young and it is very close to my house, but there is a cheaper alternative that I may check out first.
ZOOm Air Adventures:
I found a great article on this place that also has some pictures, which they do not have on their site yet. Go read it here on the Orlando Sentinel website.
The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens is pleased to announce the grand opening of ZOOm Air Adventures at the Zoo. ZOOm Air Adventures is an aerial adventure course that will allow you to explore the tree tops from an animal’s perspective...This entertaining, yet educational adventure will allow nature lovers and challenge seekers alike an opportunity to enjoy the thrill of adventure in Central Florida. They have two different courses. The Upland Course is $20 or do the Upland and Rainforest Courses for $35. They also have combo pricing with Zoo admission on the site.
I can't wait to check these places out! Do you know of any other adventure areas around Central Florida?

That sounds like so much fun, I am going to have to try that. I didn't know we had this in Orlando, although I am not surprised.
I am amazed all the time about what I find in Orlando and I have lived here about 17 years.
